Even simply running VBoxManage with 'list usbhost' or 'list usbfilter' or 'list extpacks' or 'showvminfo 'Ubuntu 16.04' will have this effect. If invoked with NO options, it merrily displays options but does NOT 'disable' USB BT adapter/audio. As this seems to be something VBox code is doing, yet at times I wouldn't think it needed to, I'm perplexed. (Getting info via VBoxManage, like 'list extpacks' causes this - why?) It does NOT interfere with my Logitech Mouse+USB dongle. (That works/keeps working fine; works fine in Guest OS.)
And by 'disable', I mean: Windows looks/ACTS like the USB Bluetooth Adapter is still there and working properly, but no sound is going to/through it. Device Manager shows all A-OK with the BT adtapter, but the Headphones no longer show up as a valid Playback Device; they are 'Disconnected', though nothing has been done to do so; only VBoxManage.exe + the above-listed options, or VirtualBox.exe itself, is being run. The Headphones are still listed in, e.g., Devices and Printers. They still show as 'Paired' in the Win10 'Notifications' window and in Bluetooth Settings; trying to invoke a 'connect' in either location does not work. I *must* do the below headphone disconnect/USB BT Adapter physical removal/replace procedure.
This is a generic USB Bluetooth Adapter ($0.99 direct from China; see like ebay itm#262829296763) used with a pair of Motorola HT820 Headphones. This combination works reliably ordinarily. Has for years.

I have Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.1.14-112924.vbox-extpack added.
Seems not an issue with the guest OS, as I mentioned even running VBoxManage (with options) does the same thing. Still, I have one VM set up:

I have Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.1.14-112924.vbox-extpack added.
Seems not an issue with the guest OS, as I mentioned even running VBoxManage (with options) does the same thing. Still, I have one VM set up:
Guest is Ubuntu 16.04.2 64-bit
Guest Additions have been added per docs/recommendations.
Just starting VirtualBox.exe has the same effect. The GUI panel, NOT starting the guest VM. AGAIN, the USB BT Audie is 'disabled'/BT Headphones are 'disconnected' by VBox, not the guest OS.
In order for BT adapter to function again, I must:
Code: Select allExpand viewCollapse view
1. close VBox
2. turn off my headphones
3. unplug the USB dongle
4. re-plug
5. turn my headphones back on.

Rinse, Wash, Repeat as necessary. (Usually doing this process once is enough to have audio passed through the USB Bluetooth Adapter again, but on occasion I need to do it another once or more times. THIS I blame Windows for, and do NOT believe to be part of the VirtualBox issue herein described.)
